James Francis Edward Stuart c.1720

6 March 1708: Comte de Forbin’s French invasion fleet sailed out from Dunkirk, slipping past the Royal Navy’s blockade and making its way to the east coast of Scotland. James Francis Edward Stuart sailed with the fleet and planned to raise the Jacobites against his half-sister, Queen Anne.

6 March 1716: Sir Robert Pollock, governor of Fort William, reported his intention to disarm the nearby Jacobite clans and apprehend rebel leaders in Lochaber. He also recommended the construction of a new barracks at the fort.
