
20 March 1746: A Jacobite force under the Duke of Perth crossed the Dornoch Firth and attacked and scattered the Earl of Loudoun’s army of government highlanders. Loudoun and his remaining forces then withdrew to the Isle of Skye where they would reorganise.
20 March 1746: 400 Jacobites under Major Nicholas Glasgow attacked Captain Alexander Campbell’s detachment of 70 Argyllshire militia and 30 dragoons at Keith. The Jacobites overwhelmed the government troops killing around nine and taking the rest prisoner.
