25 February 1715: At Edinburgh Castle John Campbell, Duke of Argyll and commander-in-chief in Scotland received information that a ship laden with arms and money was off the coast of Skye and that the Jacobites in those parts were arming in anticipation of the arrival of James Francis Edward Stuart.
